On 25th May 2018, we’re going to see some major adjustments to data protection laws via the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). These are the biggest changes made to data privacy in 20 years and will affect the way you can communicate with customers and prospects.

Some of the key areas GDPR will focus on:

  • Security
  • Limitation on storage time of information
  • Transparency
  • Consent
  • High-risk processing
  • Breach notifications

In simple terms, the new set legislation is a tougher set of rules on data protection and privacy. However, it’s those operating in the B2B sector that will experience the biggest changes. The current Data Protection Act is strict on how B2C companies treat data. In comparison, those working in B2B sectors are granted a little more flexibility as information about jobs and working lives aren’t considered as sensitive as personal details.

As a telemarketing and sales support agency GDPR and changes to data protection laws are highly important to us and in turn, also to our clients.

Last month we were planning to host a business event to explore GDPR in more depth. Worryingly, with the new legislation due to begin in less than one year, there is a lack of clarity around the true impact of GDPR on the B2B sector. Because of this, we decided to postpone our event until later this year. By that time we believe the meaning of GDPR for the B2B sector will be clearer, providing a better opportunity to present you with the full details.

If you would like to learn more about GDPR and other tips on future proofing your business, please join us at our free event. It’s happening this autumn at the Errol Flynn Filmhouse, Northampton. The full details will be confirmed soon.

Email us to be added to the guest list. Numbers are strictly limited, we recommend adding your name today. See you there.
